Why is this event important and what are we raising money for?

Community events that raise awareness of the impact of cancer and how we support our clients, carers, families, and friends are super important.

Over the past year alone, the Bloomhill team has provided more than 11,700 episodes of care to Sunshine Coast locals of any age and with any cancer diagnosis who are impacted by cancer Uniquely, Bloomhill supports those diagnosed, carers, families and bereaved at a time when they need us most.

This event is about bringing our community together to celebrate health and wellness; where we are aiming to raise $50,000 to deliver on our mission of providing care, suport, and comfort to those facing the challenges of cancer.

I can’t make the event. Can I do A Bloomin Good Walk in my own time?

Absolutely, you can still register and do the walk on a day and a time that suits you!

This option really helps us achieve our $50,000+ fundraising goal and we would love you to take some pics and tag us in your socials.

What do I need to bring on the day?

Please ensure you dress appropriately for the weather on the day. We suggest you bring a hat, sunscreen, and some water for your walk (and something warmer to put on after finishing your walk and cool down).

You may also like to bring a picnic blanket with you to enjoy the entertainment and have a bite to eat at our community BBQ either before or after the event.

Entertainment on the day includes a lively band, roving clowns, a face painter, and time to mingle with like-minded people, all while celebrating health, fitness and wellness.

Can children participate?

Absolutely! This is a family friendly event, and children are welcome. We have multiple walk length options so even little legs can join the fun. Childrencan enjoy the roving entertainment and facepainting at the end of the walk.

We have aimed to have affordable options for families and groups of friends:

$35 for adults – includes a Bloomin Good Walk Cap

$15 for children – includes a Bloomin Good Walk Cap

$10 for doggies – option to buy a doggie bandana on the day!

Can I walk with my dog?

Yes dogs are welcome! Please ensure you register your dog for A Bloomin Good Walk and your pooch is on-leash at all times. And you bring their poo bags along too!

We are charging a small $10 registration fee for dogs to help us reach our fundraising goal of $50,000 for those impacted by cancer needing our nursing and therapy care services.

What should I wear?

We suggest wearing comfortable clothing suitable for the weather on the day and closed toe shoes – either walking shoes or runners.
Can we wear fancy dress outfits?

Absolutely! You can dress up and have fun in this way and take photos for socials!

What is the terrain of the walk?

The walking route is on the concreted coastal pathway that runs adjacent to the beach. Kindly note the walk is not on the beach or sand. The majority of the walk takes place on relatively flat terrain until the last part heading up to the Point Cartwright lighthouse where there is a small incline.

How long will it take to walk the entire length?

We estimate 90 minutes to walk the entire route at a more leisurely pace while socialising. We welcome all to walk at their own pace.

We have other shorter walking options available and estimated times for you to also consider.

Am I allowed to run the entire length?

Yes, if this is the best fitness challenge for yourself and your group!

We will be asking all runners to start first.

I have limited mobility, is there a shorter walk available?

Yes, we have a 200 meter return walk over flat ground for anyone with limited mobility . We want our Bloomin Good Walk to be accessible to all and for everyone to participate.

Are there public toilets nearby?

Yes, there are three public toilet blocks along the entire walking route.

Is parking available?

Yes, plenty of car parking is available.

There is a large car park at Coopers Park next to the War Memorial. Street parking next to the park and along the entire length of the route.

What food and drinks will be available?

Yes, we will be holding our own community BBQ with many yummy food and drink options to purchase either before or after your walk.
Please note this is an alcohol-free event focusing on health and wellness.

Do I need to bring my own water bottle?

Yes, we do suggest you bring your own water for the walk. Bottled water and other drinks will also be available for purchase as part of the community BBQ.

What if the day is bad weather/raining?

This is an outdoor all weather event.

However, if there is a severe weather warning we will regretfully need to postpone the event and will notify all participants via their registration email address.

Will first aiders be in attendance?

Yes, we have 3 first aid stations along the coastal walking route and 5 qualified first aid responders in attendance.
